How to Grow New Brain Cells – Ted Talks by Sandrine Thuret
Is it possible to grow new brain cells when we are older? In the past it was not believed that we could but now science has proved in fact we can grow new brain cells.
New neurons are born every day in our brain and this happens in the hippocampus which controls emotions and memory.
By the time we reach the age of 50 the neurons in our hippocampus have been completely replaced by new neurons.
So what does this have to do with growing new brain cells?
If you constantly are working on improving yourself through learning you will increase production of new neurons.
If you are constantly under stress you will decrease neuron production.
A few other things that increase neuron production are sex and running or any physical activity, and also remember life is a balancing act so too much of any of those activities will lead to sleep deprivation and that will just lower the neuron production.
Keep the balance and you will grow new brain cells.
As far as foods consumed, this is also plays a large factor in new neurons created.
Stay away from these foods if you want to grow new brain cells.
Foods with lots of sugar, lots of saturated fat, alcohol, becoming vitamin e deficient or vitamin b deficient.
Foods to consume if you want to grow new brain cells.
Resveratrol, omega 3 fatty acids, restrict calories, blueberries, folic acid, zinc, flavonoids, curcumin, caffeine and intermittent fasting.
We can all make small steps each day and increase production of these new neurons and lower the risk for Alzheimer disease in the future.
